I remember reading Maurice Sendak's 'Where The Wild Things Are' as a young child and feeling, for the first time, that my wild imagination wasn't so weird after all. I decided I wanted to be a storyteller.
As a voracious reader, I was devouring Stephen King and Jackie Collins novels by age 10, which may explain my love of uncomfortable or taboo topics!
My year nine English teacher asked me to sign the short story I'd written for class, saying she wanted to show it to people when I became a famous writer. Four decades later, I've yet to fulfil her vision, but I still adore the art of crafting a good story.
I've lived an adventurous life, travelling all over the world, living in multiple countries, and working in almost every industry. I've always found it hard to stick with one thing, when there are so many options out there.
At age 49, I was diagnosed with ADHD and so much about my life suddenly made sense!
In more recent years, I've committed to my writing career and enjoyed many wonderful experiences, such as having short stories published in anthologies, long-listing in competitions, and joining the phenomenal writing group, Brisbane Scribes.
I've written two adult fiction manuscripts, with one short-listing in Queensland Writers Centre's competition, Publishable.
I've also written a children's book, inspired by my studies and work in early education, aged care, and intergenerational practices.
